Fund Operations Director

Permanent employee, Full-time · Remote (UK)

About the role
We’re looking for a Fund Operations Director to provide our members with a delightful and seamless deployment service, allowing them to easily donate to high-impact causes. You’ll lead our Deployment Team, who manage the transfer of money in and money out of our funds, as well as overseeing investments in Donor Advised Funds. You’ll simplify a potentially overwhelming process into an enjoyable and rewarding experience for our member community. Reporting into our COO, you’ll work very closely with our CEO, as an integral member of the Founders Pledge leadership team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about ensuring that our global giving structure is compliant, efficient and scalable as we receive millions of dollars in contributions and grant funds to high-impact nonprofits across the globe. You’ll oversee Founders Pledge’s Donor Advised Funds, handling often-complex local and international charity law.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Building our user-centered experience that delights our members and removes the pain-points that they’d experience with their philanthropic giving at other institutions. This will include implementing and managing internal processes for contributions to our DAFs, balancing the needs of time-constrained donors with the relevant legal and compliance considerations.
  • Maintaining and continuously improving our deployment service. We’re looking to automate and digitise our processes where possible to boost efficiency, helping our members to navigate the complex regulations and risks that surround international giving and grant making.
  • Managing our in-house Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) in the UK, US and Germany, as well as managing relationships with partner organisations in other countries. This will allow us to safely and effectively make a higher volume of grants in an efficient and scalable way.
  • Building relationships with other philanthropic institutions and service providers, such as DAFs, multi-family offices and lawyers, to maximise Founders Pledge’s impact.
  • Representing the Deployment team’s work across the organisation - such as with our Community, Research, Advisory and Growth teams.
  • Providing an excellent customer experience and working closely with external stakeholders, such as partners, members and donors.
  • Ensuring rigorous reporting and accounting of incoming donations and grant deployments alongside our Financial Controller.

Salary: Up to £60,000 DOE
Location: Flexible Remote (UK)
About you
We’re looking for someone operationally minded, who errs towards ‘taking action’ and can work through the complexities of international tax implications. You’ll live and breathe automation and efficiency, always striving to delight our customers with our deployment service.

You’re likely to have:

  • A logical, strategic mind. You’re hands-on when solving complex problems and explore complex nuances with enthusiasm.
  • A strong understanding of corporate legal structuring and share ownership.
  • A clear and confident communication style across disparate stakeholders, both internally and externally. This will include our community of pledgers/members, third party financial and legal specialists, and charity representatives. You’ll lead meetings and conference calls to discuss complex issues with groups of experienced professionals and entrepreneurs.
  • A global outlook and ability to work extensively with the US, ideally with experience of US legal/tax structures. Experience of tax/understanding of international tax implications would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of basic investments and the ability to work with investment advisors.
  • Strong people management skills and experience.
  • Experience in (or understanding of) the US Donor Advised Fund market or foundations would also be a plus, but not essential.
Why work with us?
You can find more about the benefits we offer here, but what makes us truly special is both our mission and our people. We’re a diverse team, from both charitable and commercial backgrounds, who believe that amazing things can happen when we tackle problems together. We offer a flat structure and an opportunity to help shape the future of philanthropy.

We have a global flexible first approach to working.

We ask that applicants to this role are based in the UK. Although we have a small HQ in London, there’s no expectation for you to attend on a regular basis. At the same time, if you think you’d benefit from a desk in a co-working space close to your home, this can be arranged. Otherwise, you just need a great home wifi connection and we’ll provide you with everything else you need to be successful in your role.

On top of this, we’ll bring the global team together twice per year (when it’s safe to do so)!

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at Founders Pledge. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We are committed to building an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone can do their best work.

We are looking forward to hearing from you!
